At the eve of Samsung’s first Android phone for South Korea, Shin Jong-kyun, head of Samsung’s mobile division told they’re looking to ship more than 18m smartphone units this year that will help them to pass HTC as world’s number 4 smartphone brand.
Samsung reckons their key to success in the smartphone market is their multi-OS adoption strategy. Samsung is planning make phones running on Samsung’s own bada, Windows Mobile, Android, LiMo and supporting SNS and Location-based services (LBS).
Additionally, Samsung is planning to launch most phones featuring AMOLED display and will also launch a phone with 1GHz processor.
Samsung’s first bada phone is expected to be unveiled at MWC and as per Shin, the first bada phone will start retailing in March.
