UPDATE 2: Samsung Singapore has replied to us regarding the phone missing from the site.
We believe they’ve sold out on the Galaxy BEAM… perhaps they are not placing further orders at this point.
UPDATE: It seems the phone has been discontinued in Singapore. StarHub’s site says the phone is not available.
Considering Samsung’s full attention on its current money spinner — Galaxy S, this was on the cards. Samsung Singapore have confirmed that Galaxy Beam won’t be upgraded to Android 2.2 (Froyo) because the phone’s “customer base is too small to justify for the allocation of dedicated resources at HQ.”
Galaxy Beam is world’s first smartphone that has a built-in projector. The phone was launched in July this year on StarHub in Singapore and has since not been launched elsewhere.
The phone runs on Android 2.1 and packs decent specs like 3G support, 720MHz CPU, 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, Bluetooth v2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11n, 8MP camera with LED flash, front facing camera, GPS, pico-projector that can project content up to 50-inches in size and 1800mAh battery.
