A Samsung UK exec confirmed yesterday that the next Nexus device will be out “very shortly” and it looks like we’ve got a date. Apparently, Google and Samsung will unveil the Nexus Prime or Galaxy Nexus (or whatever they name it) at the AsiaD: All Things Digital event on Oct 19 in Hong Kong.

The event, if it happens, makes sense as top executives from both Google and Samsung will be there at the event.

Dr. Won-Pyo Hong from Samsung and Andy Rubin from Google are two of the many speakers at the AsiaD event.

Looks like Samsung is rolling out the Galaxy S Gingerbread update in other countries as well. A reader let us know that the Android 2.3 update (JV5) is also available to users in Hong Kong.

Going by the comments and ‘likes’ for the NORi F, a lot of readers wanted to use the phone overseas despite it being restricted to South Korea. Well, here’s some good news. Samsung has announced the same NORi clamshell device in Hong Kong. The phone will come in Fuchsia Pink, Indigo Blue, French Blue and Festival Orange colors and brings the same LED illumination that can be customized to suit the user’s mood.

In addition to this, the phone has a 2.8-inch WQVGA internal display, touch-swiping external display, 3G (2100MHz), 3.2MP camera, 1.3MP front facing camera, FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.0 and microSD card slot.

Samsung Hong Kong has announced a new promotion surrounding its touchscreen phones. Till August 5, any purchase of Samsung touchscreen phones will get consumers a free Toy Story 3 merchandise.

As you can see from the image above, users buying Wave (S8500), Jet (S8000H), Monte (S5628) or (S5560) will get a glass set whereas consumers buying Dual-SIM B5722C, Diva (S7070C), Corby (S3650C) and Star (S5230C) will get a phone strap.

After selling Spongebob Squarepants S3650 special edition for a brief time, Samsung is selling a new special edition pack with its S5560 in Hong Kong. Users buying S5560 from any of Samsung’s selected retailers till May 21, 2010 will be eligible for a free b + a b premium set. The premium set includes a shining star phone strap, a S5560 phone case (Shining Star on the left and Punk England on the right) and a b + a b HK$100 discount coupon.

Samsung is selling a limited edition SpongeBob Squarepants Corby phone in Hong Kong. The phone is same as the original S3650C but if bought by April 23, consumers can either get a Spongebob or his best friend Patrick Star’s battery cover set. The set includes two battery covers with the cartoon’s pictures on it, a mobile pouch and a Spongebob token.

Samsung last week let loose a software update to its HD video recording I8910 HD (Omnia HD) device. The version I8910XEII1 (Custom version: I8910SERII2) claims to bring in some new features and improvements like the 3D TaskSwitcher, one finger zoom, more spaced out QWERTY keyboard. The current update is said to work only for Hong Kong and Russian Omnia HD owners. The firmware will soon be available to rest of the Omnia HD users.
