Samsung Galaxy I7500’s smaller sibling has set its foot in Finland after being launched in Russia. This Galaxy Spica remains unchanged except for the fact that it comes with Nordic language support. It will start selling in November at a price of 469 Euros ($692).

Samsung has released a new firmware update for its Android I7500 Galaxy phone. The I7500XXII5_VIAII5 update is still the Android 1.5 Cupcake but emphasizes on stability and improved battery life. It has got the Switchers app that allows to quickly enable/disable network components like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The screen unlock time has been reduced to 0.5 seconds while features an improved compass display that works better with Google Maps, Sky Maps and Wikitude. Users can now also send bitmap MMS messages.

The update can be installed via the latest PC Studio software.

The wait for Samsung’s Android phone is over. At the presser in Delhi, Samsung unveiled its first Android phone, making it the third Android phone for the Indian market. For the launch, Samsung has tied up with Tata Docomo to provide Galaxy users with 500MB of free data for the first six months. It’s kind of a good deal since Airtel is giving just 100MB for HTC’s Hero for the same period.

The phone features a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi, 5MP camera, 8GB internal memory, up to 32GB expandable via microSD and a 1500mAh battery. Galaxy comes pre-loaded with Google services and Android Market that will enable users to download new applications over the air.

Its priced just under Rs. 29,000 (Rs. 28,990 to be exact).

The latest report suggests that Samsung’s Android phone has been delayed in UK but if you’ve been wanting it badly, you can pick one up on both Orange and O2 network. We already know O2 will be the official carrier in UK and now first hand news comes from Register about the phone’s launch. According to some employees at retail outlets who consulted O2’s stock management system told Register the phone will arrive in stores next week. The price at which the phone will sell is unknown at the moment.

Here’s the scenario of the Taiwanese touchscreen mobile market. LG Electronics is the leader with a 17 percent market share while Samsung holds 12 percent. Now to turn things around, Samsung is planning to launch at least 10 touchscreen devices in Taiwan in the remainder of this year as compared to LG who is planning to launch at least 7.

In fact, if we see it’s not really surprising for Samsung to bring more touchscreen phones because their roadmap is already filled with them ranging from entry level to high end.

O2’s been selling I7500 Galaxy in Germany and its UK division has announced that they’ll handle the retail duties within the UK from August. This confirmation however, does not come with a price but according to O2, it will be available on contract.

Looks like Indians are in for a treat these two months. Samsung India’s Country Head, Guru Dutt has confirmed that they’ll bring about 7 new phones by July, including an Android phone. Their aim is to capture about 20 percent of the market by the end of this year and with the powerpacked list to support their cause, there is a chance they might achieve it.
