Samsung today flagged off their Wheels of Hope bus in India that will enable students from the lesser privileged sections of the society to learn with the aid of modern technology. Just like the Solar Powered Internet School, this too, is a part of Samsung’s CSR initiatives.

The Wheels of Hope bus is nothing but a converted computer lab fitted with Samsung netbooks, notebooks and tablets that will give students a first-hand experience of the latest technology. Samsung plans to reach about 7500 students from about 35 Municipal schools and government aided schools in Delhi/NCR region.

If you are looking to pick up the cheaper Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tab 750 and 730 in India, you’re in for some disappointment. At the launch today, Samsung exec confirmed that the Wi-Fi-only Galaxy Tabs won’t make it to India as Samsung wants consumers to experience “full connectivity” which is only possible with having Wi-Fi and 3G onboard.

We’re not sure about this decision but I think there are consumers who need a tablet at lower price point, irrespective of 3G or not.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 will sell in India for Rs. 36,200 and Galaxy Tab 730 for Rs. 33,990.

UPDATE: Just to clarify, the 3G version still has Wi-Fi. It’s the non-3G version like the one launched in US we’re talking about.

It seems Samsung’s 10.1-inch tablet will get a name change when it will be announced next week in India. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be unveiled as Galaxy Tab 750 on August 10 at an event in New Delhi. The only possible reason we can think of rebranding it is Samsung’s recent strategy for naming devices (for instance GT-S5780 is Wave 578 whereas Galaxy Tab 10.1′s model number is GT-P7500).

Apart from the change in branding, we expect the same Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Android Honeycomb OS, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, Wi-Fi, 3G support, Bluetooth, GPS, 3MP and 2MP cameras, HD video recording and more.

Samsung will also live stream the launch on August 10, which you’ll be able to watch it here.
