Known as Link in Canada, Samsung and Alltel has brought the cheap candybar messaging phone to US. Freeform or SCH-r351 will come in teal and burgundy colors and feature a four-row QWERTY keyboard, 2.2-inch QCIF display, Bluetooth, 1.3MP camera, music player, GPS, speakerphone and expandable memory up to 16GB. No word on the price but is available right now at Alltel retail stores.

Samsung’s full QWERTY device, Link will soon head south of the North American border. Link has been found on Samsung’s US website by the name of Freeform or SCH-r350 and unlike the Canadian variant being locked to different carriers, the Freeform will be sold unlocked. The features remain the same – full QWERTY keyboard, 2.2-inch screen, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth, microSD card slot up to 16GB and talk time of around 6 hours.

UPDATE: Bell Canada has also announced the phone.

Apparently, Samsung Link was not Bell exclusive as it’s been launched on Virgin Mobile. The cheap messaging phone comes in grey hue that allows to check up to five email accounts, one-touch Facebook button, 1.3MP camera, 2.2-inch display, music player, Stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack and external memory up to 16GB.

The phone goes for $29.99 on a 3-year contract, $49.99 on 2-year and pre-paid / 1-year contract users can get it for $99.99.

Remember Samsung Link? It seems it missed the July 15 release date and will be announced on July 30. And yes, it’s totally different to what we had assumed to be a CDMA version of Valencia. It has a nice pebble like design, full QWERTY, 2.2-inch display, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth, microSD slot up to 16GB and support for IM & e-mail. Mobile Syrup has also got their mitts on the price and it looks to be a cheap ask, if you can commit to Bell for 3 years.

Mobile Syrup received an image of Samsung’s new phone claimed to be coming on Bell on July 15. The phone is called Link and while other details are still awaited, a closer look hints that it might the CDMA variant of C6620/C6625 aka Valencia with some button design changes.

If it is indeed Valencia’s variant, we can expect a budget smartphone that runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, EVDO, 2.6-inch QVGA screen, 2MP camera, GPS etc.
