T-Mobile will start shipping the 8MP wonder from Samsung today. For the uninitiated, the 8MP phone is Memoir that has nifty photography features like Xenon flash, smile and face detection, 3G, TouchWiz UI and GPS. It goes for $299 with a 2 year contract. Probably the best camera phone, an American carrier can offer.

Samsung finally announced the release date of 8MP Memoir that will be reaching the Americans via T-Mobile. The phone is due on Feb 25 at an affordable price of $299.

Samsung officially unveiled (again) the phone at Mobile World Congress today and roped in model and photographer, Helena Christensen for the promotion. The device as well as the image quality looks good. Oh yea, the above picture was in fact shot by Memoir. Have a look at more hi-res photos over here.

With information leaking at regular intervals, T-Mobile thought it was about time to give this phone an official tag. Samsung Memoir aka SGH-t929 has been launched in the USA to give users the power of 8MP photography along with Xenon flash, 16X digital zoom and five shooting modes. The phone also boasts Bluetooth, GPS, TouchWiz UI, 3G, music player and much more.

The pricing and availability are still unknown but we are pinning to the previously rumored Feb 25.

More details of Memoir continue to leak. The phone is expected to launch on February 25 but Tmonews say that it can be shifted back to September. They have also managed to get the feature list of the device.

T-Mobile USA users might soon be getting a decent camera phone offering from the Korean giant. Unearthed by a TMonews forum reader, the picture shows the upper body of Memoir. It has a 8 megapixel sensor which is expected to pack with all the camera phone feature goodness and touchscreen with TouchWiz UI. As TMonews points out, T-Mobile’s 3G network coupled with Samsung’s sexy 8 megapixel shooter will definitely win some hearts and maybe subscribers for T-Mobile.
