Samsung generally comes in a big way at major trade shows but it will be different at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). Samsung confirmed to PCMag that they won’t hold any press conference at the event.

However, as the site points out, that does not mean we won’t see new products from Samsung. There’s a possibility of new tablets and a few phones but they won’t be substantial as a flagship device.

Samsung recently confirmed to unveil Galaxy S III at a dedicated event and not at MWC.

The image you’re looking above is in all likeliness, the Galaxy S II Plus. Renowned Mobile analyst and editor of site Mobile-Review, Eldar Murtazin posted this image on his Twitter feed and though he did not explicitly mention the name, he did somewhat confirm the device in another tweet.

Existence of Galaxy S II Plus came to light after the benchmark score of the device was leaked. The phone as you can see is strikingly similar to the original Galaxy S II but sports touch-sensitive menu buttons. It is also said to sport a faster dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, will run Android 4.0 with TouchWiz and will have a WVGA display.

Let’s hope this image is real and is showcased at the MWC later this month.

The last we heard about Galaxy S III’s announcement was that they were reviewing different launch options but now we’ve got a definite statement confirming the launch plans of Galaxy S III. In a statement issued to Tech Radar, Samsung confirmed that they won’t announce the Galaxy S II successor at the Mobile World Congress but will hold a dedicated event before June.

This is an interesting and perhaps good news for consumers because the time-to-market of the device from the date of announcement will be less compared to what we saw with Galaxy S II.

Apparently, at CTIA or closer to CTIA is what we think Samsung will announce the power packed device.

Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product. Samsung stays committed to providing the best possible mobile experiences for customers around the world.

We first heard about the Galaxy Tab 11.6 back in December when BGR claimed the Korean giant to unveil the tablet at Mobile World Congress. Now a new report published by Android And Me claims the same. The report says Samsung will introduce the next-generation Galaxy Tab at MWC next month which will have a display larger than the current Galaxy Tab 10.1.

However, the important thing will be the integration of Exynos 5250, which Samsung will start mass producing in Q2 2012. If you’re unaware, Exyno 5250 is a dual-core SoC that features a clock speed of 2GHz and display resolution support of 2560×1600 and Mali-T604 GPU.

Mobile World Congress (MWC) is one of the world’s biggest shows related to mobile devices and if we go by The Verge’s latest report, MWC might not host the most important unveiling. According to the site’s sources, Samsung’s Galaxy S III won’t show its face at MWC 2012 next month. Surprising as it may sound, the reason for the delayed announcement is speculated to shorten the gap between the global and US launch.

To rehash, Samsung announced the Galaxy S II at MWC last year in February where the global variant went on sale in April compared to US variants that went on sale from September.

Of course, this is all unconfirmed but given the site’s track record, it could all be true. Let’s hope Samsung clears the air pretty soon.

It seems the original Galaxy Tab will be the only tablet from Samsung to sport a 7-inch display. Dr WP Hong from Samsung who addressed the media at Mobile World Congress confirmed that Samsung is working to expand its tablet portfolio but newer tablets won’t have a 7-inch display.

He reckons “tablets should be bigger than 7-inch” and “10.1-inch is the best size for a tablet,” considering they recently announced a larger sized Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Android Honeycomb OS.

However, Wong did hint that this mid-size segment could be fulfilled by smartphones since display size of new phones are getting bigger.

As for original Tab owners, all is not lost. Wong said they’re “discussing internally on the next update, but we haven’t made a decision yet. In the future, when we have made a decision, we will let you know.”
