If black and white colored N510 are too dull for your taste Samsung has prepared a red special edition one too. Spotted at the IFA, this special edition notebook comes in red color with glossy black wavy lines to give it an artistic impression. Under the hood, it is still the same with a 11.6-inch screen (1366×768), 1.6GHz Atom N270 CPU, ION LE chipset, Nvidia GeForce 9400M GPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI-out, USB ports with one capable of charging USB gadgets even when the notebook is powered off, 1.3MP camera and a 6-cell battery that gives about 6.5 hours of runtime.

The price of this special edition is not known but it will be initially available in Korea.

Not only the N510 looks bigger than Sammy’s first ever netbook, it performs well too. Check out the video below showing both the netbooks playing HD clip and needless to say, ION LE wins it hands down.

A Samsung rep told them that they’re planning to hold off the N510 until Windows 7 is released, which will happen in October. Samsung had a bright chance to get a head start since Lenovo too pushed the release of ION-powered S12 until Windows 7 launch. Finally, this leads us to an interesting question – will N510’s ION LE capable enough to pull Windows 7 with ease?

For starters, ION LE is designed mainly for Windows XP and supports DirectX9 as compared to the ION that has DX10 support and Lenovo S12 happens to be the netbook that houses it.

As far as other features are concerned, it will have 1.66GHz N280 Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Nvidia GeForce 9400M GPU, HDMI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc.

Download the manual to see more pictures of the netbook (page 51 onwards).

A new netbook from Samsung surfaced over the weekend that will be its first offering powered by Nvidia ION platform. The NP-N510-KA02UK was leaked by a couple of retailers that also gave an early hint about the specifications and its price. According to it, the N510 netbook will have an LED back11.6-inch screen, 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor, GeForce 9400M, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, webcam, 3-in-1 card reader and a 6-cell battery pack. The included OS is Windows XP Home which suggests that Samsung will release it soon, presumably before the release of Windows 7.

Despite the seemingly exciting netbook specs, the price could be deal breaker if the 562 Euros ($786) tag is correct.
