Despite Samsung’s portfolio boasting different netbook offerings, its maiden netbook is still registering some good sales. The Korean giant today announced that the NC10 netbook has now surpassed the sales figure of 1.5m units in a short period of just one year. NC10 was introduced in September last year and it reached 1m units in May this year.

To commemorate the global sales, Samsung also announced an NC10 Special Edition for a special price in South Korea. For 599,000 Won ($500) user gets all the benefits of the netbook like 10.1-inch display, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Bluetooth etc.

Samsung’s first ION-based netbook might not come to US till late October but the N510 is on sale in parts of Europe and one chap decided to give us a glimpse of what to expect from the 11.6-incher. Not only the N510 looks bigger than Sammy’s first ever netbook, it performs well too. Alright, I don’t know about you but I won’t get a netbook that has a reptile-like salamander design on it, even if it’s designed by world renowned Agnès b. It’s not that they are bad but I feel the design is not attractive to lure me into buying this. Specs-wise yes, this netbook is still the same ol’ NC10 and is available for 399 Euros ($563).

Yota, the Russian WiMAX service provider and Samsung have announced NC10 netbook (also known as WiTU PC) with an integrated WiMAX module. Apart from this 4G addition, other specs remain the same: Intel Atom processor, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Windows XP, 1.3MP camera, Wi-Fi, LAN, Bluetooth, card reader and different I/O ports.

The netbook will start retailing from March 23 for 19,990 Rubles (USD 580). It will be sold exclusively at the M.video retail stores for the first two weeks.

Yes, it’s true but the above line is only applicable if – you reside in UK and sign a contract with O2 for its mobile broadband service. If you pass the aforementioned conditions then you’d happy to know that from Feb 27, O2 will offer three Samsung laptops distinguished as O2 Mini-Laptop (NC10) , O2 Performance Laptop (R510 with Celeron Dual Core) and the O2 Multi-Media Laptop (R510 with Pentium Dual Core).

The monthly charges start from £29.38 and goes up to £44.04. Performance laptop is an exception to the free tag; customer needs to pay a one-time payment of £78.29.

Samsung announced new colors for NC10 to entice mini-notebook users in Hong Kong. The new colors in addition to White and Black are Azurine Blue, Deep Sea Blue and Cherry Pink. The specifications remain unchanged and sells for HK$3,990 (US$515).

Here is another color to choose from. After Pink and Light Blue here is Royal Black to give the netbook, a classic look. Buy.com is selling this dark baby for $440 with the same specs, of course.

As the launch of NC20 looks imminent, Samsung’s strategy seems quite obvious to push the soon-to-be predecessor in different colors. We have already seen NC10 being graced in Pink and the latest color expected to come with the netbook is light blue. No word on the exact date but expect it around the same time when the Pink NC10 hits the retail shelves. No changes in the specifications though.

Market demand does make companies to do the inevitable. An online retailer has been found taking up preorders of Samsung’s NC10 netbook in Pink. The release date is set for February 09 which somehow hints that it will be the Valentine edition. However, specs remain untouched – Intel Atom N270 processor (1.6GHz), 1GB Memory, 160GB Hard drive, 10.2″ widescreen display and Microsoft Windows XP Home.

The netbook is selling at Dabs for British Pound equivalent of USD437.
