Samsung officially announces SCH-W760 – Infrared Video Calling Phone

No surprises here. After getting its product page on the website a few days back, Samsung has officially unwrapped its SCH-W760 slider phone. This baby has a useful Infrared Video Telephony (IRVT) feature that allows users to make video calls in the dark, for instance, when users want to show their karaoke skills live. On other features front, the phone has a 2.8-inch WQVGA AMOLED screen, 3MP camera, S-DMB, up to 8GB external memory support and much more.

Samsung’s SCH-W760 infrared video calling phone has finally been added to Samsung Korea’s product page.The features are the same from the last time we heard – it sports a 2.8-inch WQVGA AMOLED screen, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, DMB, 3MP camera with flash, Infrared Video Telephony (IRVT), microSD slot up to 8GB storage, music player and a talk time of around 4 hours and 360 hours of standby time. The phone will be sold on SK Telecom at an unknown price.

Samsung is planning to launch a new phone in Korea that will enable a clear, well-lit video calls when the users initiates it in a dark environment. The exact functioning is still a mystery but the infrared rays are said to play the important role in the darkness.

The slider phone will come on SK Telecom and features a 2.8-inch AMOLED screen, DMB, 3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, music player, e-dictionary, PictBridge and flashlight.

No details on the price and availability.
