Samsung has announced that its PM810 SSD has achieved Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) validation that conforms to Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 data security. PM810’s validation of FIPS 140-2 ensures the drive’s capability of providing highest level of data protection.

PM810 data security features self-encrypting drive (SED) technology that uses 256-but AES encryption and Crypto Erase that deletes targeted data in few seconds, no matter how big the volume size of the data.

Samsung says these SSDs security level can be useful to businesses who have to protect their sensitive data from any unauthorized access.

Samsung has announced that they’ve developed multi-level-cell (MLC)-based Solid State Drives for enterprise storage applications. Coming in capacities of 100, 200 and 400GB options, the SSDs are apt for servers as the new SSD provides higher-density while consuming very less power.

The SSD uses 30nm-class MLC NAND flash chips that support Toggle DDR and 3Gb/s SATA interface, allowing the SSD to perform at par with SLC NAND-based SSD.

The drive boasts random read commands at 43,000 input/outputs per second (IOPS) and random writes at 11,000 IOPS and processes 150 times more data while consuming the same amount of electricity as a 15K RPM HDD.

Additionally, the drive also has an end-to-end data protection, improved data encryption for enhanced security.

The SSDs are currently being sampled with mass production slated for next month.
