Looks like Samsung is gearing up for the big launch of Galaxy R (aka Galaxy Z). Check out this short demonstration video showing off few features of the Galaxy R. To regurgitate, Galaxy R will be a cheaper variant of Galaxy S II and will feature lower specs like a 4.2-inch Super LCD screen, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording, Social/Readers/Music/Game Hub support, Wi-Fi, GPS, FM Radio, 8GB internal memory and microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB.

Samsung was supposed to launch the device in UK but has apparently backtracked at the moment saying it has not been “confirmed” for the UK market.

UPDATE: We’ve been told Galaxy R should be announced pretty soon. Europe will be the first stop followed by South West Asia, Middle East and China.

Galaxy S (SC-02B) that is currently on sale in Japan has got a follower from the dark side. NTT DoCoMo brought Darth Vader at the Galaxy S’ launch in Japan and now the villain is seen in DoCoMo’s commercial following Galaxy S users wherever they go.

The concept according to a NTT DoCoMo spokesperson is that the Darth Vader is playing a human representation of customizable DoCoMo phones, which apparently is working well considering NTT DoCoMo sold off the initial batch to 50k units in the first week itself.

We obviously wouldn’t recommend to try this with your Galaxy Tab (or any other gadget) but in case you were wondering about Gorilla Glass’ strength, take a look at the video below. A user took his CO2 powered gun and shot the tablet within the point-blank range. Surprisingly, Galaxy Tab survived with just a few bullet marks on the display.

To give a better perspective, the user also attempted a similar stunt with a glass which succumbed to death in the first shot.

Samsung is yet to acknowledge Continuum but here we’re watching a video hands-on of the device. It’s a phone from the Galaxy S family and the phone’s selling proposition are its dual display – one acting as a regular one whereas the smaller OLED one known as the Ticker.

Although the video doesn’t really show much, the Ticker display can be seen firing up pretty quickly than the main display and showing email, social networking notifications, date etc.

The phone is rumored to be launched on October 29.
