Galaxy Tab 10.1 that was unveiled at MWC last month will be released soon. The original Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been renamed to Galaxy Tab 10.1v to avoid confusion with yesterday’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 and now Vodafone Australia has announced to release the tablet in mid-April for a “limited time.”

Vodafone also released the pricing for the same, which is pegged at AU$729 including 6GB of data that has to be used within 3 months or can be bought on a contract.

We are excited to partner with Vodafone to launch this limited edition tablet as part of our expanding range of tablet devices

Samsung continually strives to deliver leading, first to market technologies and the Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1v is no exception.

Apart from the obvious design change and dimensions, the Galaxy Tab 10.1v will offer a pure Google experience running stock Android Honeycomb OS with no TouchWiz UX and an 8MP camera capable of recording video at 1080p.

Interested users can pre-register at the link below.

This has got to be one of the absurd reasons but it’s true. Vodafone claims that any firmware update not approved by them – even if it’s an official update from the handset manufacturer – consumer will lose the Vodafone warranty but will have manufacturer’s warranty. Apparently, Vodafone warranty allows users to repair the handsets if the device was ‘Vodafone approved software’.

The issue has surfaced on Vodafone’s official forums where Galaxy S users were reportedly discussing newly released Galaxy S firmware via KIES – Samsung’s official software.

This expectedly, hasn’t gone well with the Galaxy S owners and it will be interesting to see if Vodafone budges down from its stance.

We’ve seen Samsung’s H2 (I8330) couple of times before and frankly, it has every ingredient to make a good smartphone. However, as it turns out, Vodafone has cancelled the device and apparently, the M2 (I6420) as well.

The main reason is because Vodafone wants to provide its 360 services in many devices and not restrict to those that were developed exclusively by and for the operator. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung decides launch these devices without any Vodafone or 360 branding.

Vodafone’s core strategy remains to offer the best range of smartphones in all markets in which we compete. We have decided to accelerate our Vodafone 360 services strategy, making 360 services available on as many devices as we can as soon as we can. From now we will be focusing all efforts on expanding the range of handsets and platforms that support Vodafone 360 and in developing and enhancing the suite of Vodafone 360 services. Consequently there will be no further development of bespoke Vodafone 360 handsets, and activity on the H2 ceases with immediate effect.

We have always been clear that Vodafone 360 is about a suite of services, not just about bespoke devices. Our intent was always to provide services across as many handsets as possible on as many platforms. Today Vodafone 360 is available across a wide range of over 100 handsets and on 5 platforms and this will continue to expand going forward.
