It was only a couple of days back where we saw Samsung Rogue exploding and now another Samsung device has been reduced to ashes. The incident occurred in South Korea and the phone in question is Samsung’s clamshell device SCH-W830.

Although not as dangerous as the previous incident, the phone reportedly caught fire after the user plugged the phone for charging.

Samsung has made its W830/W8300/W8350 official, which we had told you yesterday. For the things we didn’t, have been confirmed now, like the accelerometer that can be used to set the phone in silent mode, SOS with siren feature and color options of blue, pink and white. The phone will retail for 500,000 Won (US$400).

We already told you about SPH-W8300 for KT last month and now it looks like it’s ready for primetime. True to the description, the phone is slim at 13.4mm and illuminative with the help of the external round screen. It also has a button on the hinge that automatically opens up the clamshell.

As far as other features are concerned, the phone supports HSDPA, has a 2.6-inch 262K LCD internal screen (240×320), 2MP camera, Video/Music on Demand, Subway Maps, SOS function, Bluetooth, games, microSD card and a talk/standby time of up to 5/390 hours.

The phone will be marketed as SCH-W830 for SKT and SPH-W8350 for LGT.
