Samsung America has announced the pricing and availability of its R0 and R1 PMPs. The Yepp R1 and R0 PMPs will grace American retail stores beginning from April and will bring loads of features. The R1 adopts a 2.4-inch touchscreen display and features Bluetooth to pair up with a BT headset, FM Radio, DNSe 3.0, DivX support and a video recorder. R1’s fully charged battery can give up to 50 hours of audio playback and 4 hours of video.

On the other hand R0 comes with a tad larger 2.6-inch display, tactile keys for easy navigation, DNSe 3.0, DivX support, FM Radio and a microSD card slot to expand storage. It can give 6 hours of video or up to 30 hours of audio playback.

Both the players will come in 8 or 16GB configurations with prices of:

R1 (8GB) – $149.99
R1 (16GB) – $179.99
R0 (8GB) – $99.99
R0 (16GB) – $129.99

A quick note to all YP-R1 users in South Korea – Samsung has released a v1.11 software update for the PMP. The firmware update is about 60MB and claims to improve system reliability. Head over to the link below to download it.

Samsung has decided to launch its R1 PMP outside its homeland. R1 comes in an aluminum chassis and is touted as the lightest and slimmest (50g and 8.9mm thickness) media player to give out of the box DivX, XviD, H.264, WMV compatibility.

The PMP also has Samsung’s Beat DJ function that allows users to create and play their own sound tracks with the DJ ‘scratch’ feature. As for the screen, it is a 2.6-inches tempered glass touchscreen display.

YP-R1 is equipped with TouchWiz UI, Bluetooth, DNSe 3.0, e-dictionary, voice recording, FM Radio, TV-out and storage capacities of 8 and 16GB.

The PMP will be available from tomorrow in Europe which will be followed by other regions like Russia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

It will be on display at the IFA Berlin 2009 that starts from September 4 this week.

Samsung France’s MP3 division has uploaded a UI demo of YP-R1 PMP aka R’mix. Though R1 does not have M1′s Tegra goodness, the player looks promising with its slick UI coupled and powerpacked feature set. For the forgetful, the R1 comes in storage of up to 32GB, 2.7-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, DNSe 3.0, TV-Out, Bluetooth, FM Radio, Games and a wide support of multimedia codecs.

First live pictures of Samsung’s YP-R1 PMP have surfaced. This is Samsung’s fresh attempt to create a mini-PMP, which the Journal Du Geek mentions is smaller than Cowon S9. The specs and features remain the same from the last time but there’s a mention of a 32GB player and Music DJ Beat Finder that could be great additions to its already wide list of features.

The YP-R1 was spotted last month at some e-tailers but Samsung today has confirmed that the PMP will be launched in Korea next month. The feature set of this mini-PMP includes a 2.7-inch QVGA touchscreen with haptic feedback, wide array of audio and video codec support, 8/16GB capacity options, DNSe 3.0, Bluetooth 2.0, dictionary, voice recorder, FM Radio and recording, TV-out and an audio playback of 25 hours and video of around 5 hours. No word on the pricing though.

If you thought Samsung’s leakomania was only limited to phones, then think again. Samsung’s YP-R1 PMP was spotted at a UK e-tailer vying for some pre-orders. Its integrated 8GB storage seems to be crippling the variety of codecs but it could happily cater to some less demanding users. It also has a 2.7-inch WQVGA touchscreen display, TV-Out, Bluetooth, FM Radio, games and an e-book reader.

The multi-codec support includes – Audio: MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC and AAC; Video: MPEG-4, WMV, H.264, Divx, Xvid and RMVB.

It is currently being pre-ordered for £109.99 which comes to around $180.
