In a bid to dominate the 3D TV market, Samsung has announced 3D Plasma TVs in South Korea. Samsung’s 3D portfolio already includes 3D LED and LCD TVs and 3D Plasma will enable them to target consumers who want 3D technology on the cheap. They’ve announced two 3D supporting PDP models – 680 Series (PN50C680G5F) and 490 Series (PN50C490B3D).

Both these models support 3D viewing and features a proprietary 3D engine, hyperreal color, contrast and a 2D to 3D conversion with a touch of a button. The 50-inch TVs also support USB 2.0, Allshare and eco-sensor to automatically adjust brightness.

The 490 Series 3D PDP TV will cost 1,900,000 won ($1565) and 680 Series will go for 2,150,000 won ($1772).

From my experience of being in the supply of TV brackets and the installation of them, the UK is really moving towards the LCD and LED TVs due to their thickness. Our customers are looking more and more at the more delicate bracket to complement the profile of their thin TV. Speaking for myself though, I do like the picture of a large plasma TV and will be interested to see how the UK market accepts 3d Plasma.
