Samsung AMOLED 12M (SCH-W880) announced in Korea [Updated w/ specs]

UPDATE: Specs added below and sadly, there’s no word on Wi-Fi or GPS.
UPDATE 2: GSMArena has got some live pictures of the phone and reckons Samsung will swap T-DMB with Wi-Fi and GPS in M8920 (international version).

After being revealed couple of times in the past few days, Samsung has rightly made the world’s first phone with 12MP camera and optical zoom official. AMOLED 12M or SCH-W880 can take pictures at 12 megapixel resolution and offers 3x optical zoom, 2x digital zoom, 720p video recording (1280×720) at 30fps and Xenon flash. It also supports touch auto focus, image stabilization, Smart Auto (that automatically selects the scene according to environment) and face detection.

Rest of the feature set is yet to be confirmed but the phone has a 3.3-inch AMOLED WVGA (800×480) touchscreen display, TouchWiz UI and 4GB internal memory.

It will hit the Korean retail shelves early next month.

hi leonardo, i think it should be available world wide sometime next year (2010). you can check with your local samsung office in brazil by phoning them. they should have some idea

Remember when electronics from Japan was the only way to go,well Samsung has now rewritten that thinking with so many excellent products such as the AMOLED 12M or SCH-W880,well done Samsung,Take a well deserved bow.

So, how come Samsung hasn’t made an UMPC with a large megapixel camera like this 12 mp camera pda smart phone or install a larger mp camera (ie- 26 megapixels or better so then it’s better than Sony’s 26 mp slr digital camera, and better than Sony’s VAIO UMPC etc,) so then they could have a 7 inch or 5 inch amoled screen with a vga camera on the front like the Q-1 Ultra UMPC, with the biometrics button, but; with a much larger megapixel lens on the back than their 3.1 mp camera on the UMPC?
And have it be a personal video gaming player like Sony’s PSP series but, with a sliding amoled screen, with the hidden key board and controller buttons etc…eh!
