Samsung confirms Smartwatch plans

Samsung Mobile’s Young-hee Lee has confirmed the development of a wristwatch to Bloomberg. The executive VP tells Bloomberg that a smartwatch has been under development for quite some time and are working “very hard” to release it.

We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them.

Lee did not reveal any features of the upcoming watch but it’s safe to assume, the watch will be powered by Android OS and will connect to existing Galaxy devices.

Samsung dabbling with a connected wristwatch is not new as they had released an S9110 watch few years back but stopped selling due to dismal consumer demand.

PS: The watch pictured above is S9110 released in 2009.
