With all the bad blood between Samsung and Apple, we thought this day would take an eternity but nevertheless, both Samsung and Apple have agreed to drop their ongoing patent lawsuits outside the United States. The surprising decision came today where the companies issued a joint statement confirming to drop the lawsuits in eight countries except for the US. Samsung and Apple will continue pursuing existing lawsuits in the US courts.

The decision affects lawsuits in countries like Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, South Korea and UK.

Samsung and Apple have been fighting a patent infringement battle since 2011.

Apple and Samsung have agreed to drop all litigation between the two companies outside the United States. This agreement does not involve any licensing arrangements, and the companies are continuing to pursue the existing cases in U.S. courts.
