Samsung Galaxy S is Wi-Fi Direct certified

November 5, 2010 By kunal Leave a Comment

Galaxy S

Samsung’s Galaxy S Android phone is the world’s first smartphone to be certified with Wi-Fi Direct. This certification means the phone is able to send, share, sync content directly with other Wi-Fi enabled devices. Good thing about this is that the protocol does not need any additional hardware so it all comes to a firmware update for this feature to work.

Wi-Fi Direct is somewhat similar to Bluetooth. Wi-Fi Direct-enabled devices can send data to other Wi-Fi devices without needing to connect to a hotspot.
