Samsung spent over $9 billion in R&D in 2011

Samsung revealed that they spent the largest amount ever on its Research & Development in 2011. Samsung invested 10.3 trillion won or $9.1 billion in R&D in 2011 which comes to about 6.2 percent of its 2011 sales. This is the first time Samsung Electronics crossed the 10 trillion won landmark.

Additionally, Samsung also invested a total of 22.7 trillion won ($20.05 billion won) on plants taking their total investment, including plants and machinery and R&D to the tune of 33 trillion won.

As for this year, Samsung plans to invest 25 trillion won in equipment and facilities.
