Samsung has announced the mass production of the PM1763, its PCIe 6.0-based enterprise SSD built for next-generation AI and HPC server environments. The drive is aimed at handling the rising data demands of AI training and inference workloads. It succeeds the PM1753 in Samsung’s enterprise SSD lineup.
The PM1763 uses Samsung’s 9th-generation V-NAND alongside a new 4nm controller, improving both performance and power efficiency over its predecessor.
The SSD ships in 4TB, 8TB and 16TB capacities. The 16TB variant delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 28,400MB/s and 21,900MB/s, more than double the PM1753’s performance. At that speed, a 40GB large language model transfers in about 1.4 seconds.
The PM1763 is optimized for liquid-cooled servers through direct-to-chip cooling, sustaining peak performance under extended workloads. Power efficiency improves by more than 1.8 times over the PM1753.
Additionally, to address growing security requirements in AI, Samsung has also added post-quantum cryptography support and TEE Device Interface Security Protocol to secure data pathways in virtualized environments.
