Samsung now produces 3GB LPDDR3 RAM for smartphones

3GB LPDDR3 RAM

Samsung has announced that they’ve started producing 3GB LPDDR3 mobile DRAM for smartphones. This is industry’s first 3GB DRAM for mobile devices and could be a part of the upcoming Galaxy flagship device (Galaxy Note III?). Samsung uses six 20nm class 4Gb LPDDR3 chips with the single package measuring only 0.8mm high, freeing up space for a larger capacity battery and thin smartphone design.

Samsung claims each pin offers a data transfer speed of 2,133Mbps.
