Samsung Display today unveiled Mirror and Transparent OLED display panels at the Retail Asia Expo 2015 to showcase the commercial use of these products. The OLED panel is equipped with Intel’s RealSense technology that allows consumers to experience an “interactive closet” or “self-modeling” wardrobe. Samsung is also showcasing a proof of concept – a virtual necklace created by an OLED panel for Chow Sang Sang jewelry company.
On the technology side, the transparent display supports Full HD resolution, has a better colour gamut (100 percent) compared to an LCD, improved transmittance at 45 percent and transparency level of over 40 percent.
The mirror display on the other hand, will replace a conventional mirror and show informational content. Samsung claims the Mirror OLED display panel is superior to the LCD tech with its more than 75 percent reflectance level, improved colour gamut (over 100 percent compared to around 70 percent of NTSC), 100,000:1 high contrast ratio and under 1ms response time.
