Samsung Display To Stop Supplying LCD Panels to Apple?

October 22, 2012 By kunal Leave a Comment

South Korea-based Korea Times claims Samsung’s subsidiary Samsung Display will stop supplying LCD panels to Apple. Korea Times cites an unnamed Samsung employee who says the termination of the contract will be due to disagreement on the pricing of the panels.

We are unable to supply our flat-screens to Apple with huge price discounts. Samsung has already cut our portion of shipments to Apple and next year we will stop shipping displays.

The site also claims the loss of order from Apple will be compensated by increasing orders from Samsung Electronics and Amazon.

Apparently, Samsung shipped less than 3m displays in Q3 2012 to Apple and is expected to reduce to about 1.5m units in Q4 2012.
