Samsung confirms plans for 64-bit AP for mobile devices

November 6, 2013 By kunal Leave a Comment

64-bit

Samsung has confirmed their plans to launch a 64-bit application processor for mobile devices and though we don’t have all the details but the Korean giant confirmed the development of a 64-bit chip at the Samsung Analyst Day 2013.

Samsung LSI’s Dr. Stephen Woo confirmed that they’ve plans for launching their 64-bit AP but refrained to give any timeline except that it’s “marching on schedule.”

Samsung will adopt a 2-step approach with the first AP utilising ARM’s 64-bit core while the second one optimised by Samsung for better performance.

The Galaxy S5 is rumoured to be their first device with 64-bit CPU from Samsung.
