Samsung purportedly preparing a VR headset

Samsung is working on a virtual reality (VR) headset, reports Engadget. The US site claims Samsung is working hard to bring the device to the market later this year to take on the Oculus Rift and Sony’s Project Morpheus.

Although most of the details are not known, the site says it will have an OLED screen and “next-gen, unannounced” hardware and support Android games. Interestingly, Tizen won’t power the VR headset, which Samsung has adopted for Gear wearable devices and a camera.

Whatever the case is, the prospect of a Samsung VR headset does sound exciting. Hopefully, Samsung will have something to say at this year’s IFA.
