Samsung’s President & Chief Executive for South-West Asia, BD Park has refuted the recent market research report that claimed Samsung to have lost the number one spot to Micromax in India. While Park admits the growth in the smartphone market slowed down in the previous quarter, according to their internal research data, Samsung India is still leading the pack with the market share gap more than double from the second closest competitor.

Park also came on strongly on the research report alleging “some business motive behind release of such kind of data.” The research report was released by Counterpoint Technology that put Micromax in the front after their “thorough channel checks.”

Interestingly, the executive also confirmed that the Galaxy S5 didn’t “outsell S4 the way many expected it to” but it met company’s targets.
