Samsung has expanded its retail SSD lineup with 2TB 850 PRO and 850 EVO SSDs. The new drives are based on Samsung’s proprietary 3D V-NAND technology that that overcomes the density limit faced by planar NAND architecture used in conventional flash memory. 3D V-NAND tech results in improved speed, durability and energy efficiency.

The new 2TB 850 PRO and 850 EVO SSDs are equipped with 128 individual Samsung 32-layer 128Gb 3D V-NAND flash chips, an upgraded MHX controller that supports 2TB capacity and four 4Gb LPDDR3 DRAM chips based on 20nm-class process.

Samsung assures the reliability of the high-capacity drives, which is 10 years or 300TB written for 2TB 850 PRO and 5 years or 150TB data written for 850 EVO.

Samsung is now looking to expand the capacity of its mSATA and M.2 SSD lineup.
