Samsung today announced the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition at the Team USA Road to Rio event in Chicago, USA and at an event in Sao Paulo in Brazil. The limited edition phone will go on sale from July 18 in select few countries like Brazil, United States, China, Germany and South Korea. In United States, Samsung will sell the device exclusively through Best Buy from the same day.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition is still the Galaxy S7 edge but for the first time, the phone will incorporate Olympic Games Rings at the back and the signature colour pattern spread around the device. Samsung will also customise the software as well with the Olympic Rings colours featuring in the user interface, lock screen, message, dial and contact screens and notification bar, and will also be pre-loaded with Rio 2016 Olympic Games themed wallpapers.
Samsung will distribute 12,500 Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition to the athletes participating at the Olympic Games along with Gear IconX whereas the 2016 U.S. Paralympic Team will get a Paralympic Galaxy S7 edge edition.
Samsung is the Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Wireless Communications Equipment category, which means Samsung offers their mobile offers and wireless equipment for use at the Olympic Games. The partnership also allows Samsung to promote some of their products bearing the Olympic Games name and/or the logo.
