Samsung and Google have given a first look at the new intelligent eyewear line at Google I/O 2026. Developed in partnership with fashion eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, the glasses are built on Android XR, which is designed to work as a companion to a mobile phone, keeping users hands-free through voice interaction and integration with the Galaxy ecosystem.
While Google is working on two types of intelligent eyewear: audio glasses that offer spoken help in your ear, and display glasses that show you the information you need, the Samsung glasses will be audio-based.
The glasses will not feature a smart display but house a built-in speaker, camera, and microphone. Users can tap the frame or say “Hey Google” to activate Gemini. From there, the glasses support voice-activated navigation with turn-by-turn directions, personalised route suggestions, and nearby restaurant recommendations. Users can manage calls, send texts, and have Gemini summarise missed messages without reaching for their phones.
The built-in camera also lets users capture photos and videos instantly. A Nano Banana editing feature allows users to remove background distractions or apply effects with a single voice command. Real-time translation supports both spoken audio, matched to the speaker’s tone and pitch, and written text in the user’s line of sight. The glasses pair with both Android and iOS phones.
On design, Gentle Monster brings a bold, experimental aesthetic while Warby Parker contributes a refined, timeless approach. Both brands will release full collections later this year.
The Samsung Intelligent Eyewear glass collection will launch this fall in select markets.
