Samsung has developed the world’s first QD-OLED monitor panel that combines 4K resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate. Samsung will showcase the technology with a 31.5-inch 4K 360Hz QD-OLED panel at the Computex 2026 in Taipei, which starts from June 2.
Previous monitor panels required a trade-off: achieving 4K resolution meant capping refresh rates at 240Hz or below, or hitting 360Hz or higher required dropping to QHD resolution. Samsung says it overcame this through the optimisation of panel circuitry and driving systems.
The panel supports a Dual Mode feature that, when switched to FHD resolution, raises the refresh rate to 680Hz — targeting FPS gaming use cases where response time is critical.
On the HDR side, the panel carries VESA’s DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, requiring black levels of 0.0005 nits or lower and a peak brightness of at least 600 nits across white, red, green, and blue combined at 10% APL. This exceeds the True Black 500 grade previously considered the premium monitor benchmark.
A panel also features a new V-stripe pixel structure, which arranges red, green, and blue sub-pixels in vertical stripe patterns. Samsung claims the new pixel structure improves text edge rendering for users in document work, coding, and content creation.
Samsung confirmed they are in talks with more than 10 global brands for the supply of this new panel and plans to begin mass production in the second half of 2026.
