Samsung buys memory company Grandis


 

Samsung made a brief announcement confirming its acquisition of US-based Grandis Inc. Grandis is said to be a frontrunner in spin transfer torque random access memory (STT-RAM). Samsung has not revealed the monetary transaction but will take over all Grandis’ technology, assets and employees and will merge into their R&D operations.

Samsung expects Grandis to be a part of global R&D network which is focused on developing next-generation memory, semiconductor materials and structures.
