As promised, Google has started rolling out the Jelly Bean update for the GSM-based Galaxy Nexus. Users should receive a notification to update their phones to Android 4.1.1 or can grab the OTA’s zip file from the XDA Developers Forum thread below.

Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean is faster and smoother than previous Android versions. Additionally, the notifications are now expandable, comes with improved search and Google Now support.

CDMA-based Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S will receive Android 4.1 update later this month.
