Some good news for Samsung from the stateside. US District Judge Lucy Koh has thrown Apple’s request to ban the sales of Samsung Galaxy products in United States. After the jury verdict that awarded Apple a sum of $1.05 billion in damages, Apple wanted a permanent injunction on 26 Samsung Galaxy devices. But Koh says that Apple could not prove if few patented features are instrumental in driving the consumer demand.
Though Apple does have some interest in retaining certain features as exclusive to Apple,” she continued, “it does not follow that entire products must be forever banned from the market because they incorporate, among their myriad features, a few narrow protected functions.
In a different ruling, Koh turned down Samsung’s plea for a new trial due to the biasness of the jury foreman.
