One of India’s largest conglomerates, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is gearing up to launch their 4G LTE services in India and has reportedly teamed up with Samsung to launch an affordable LTE smartphone.
Times of India claims the smartphone will be priced at around Rs. 5,500 (just over $100) and will likely be sold with data plans starting from Rs. 100. Furthermore, the newspaper also says that Samsung won’t be just another handset vendor but will also have some sort of joint venture with RIL.
Samsung sells cheap 4G LTE phones in foreign markets and it shouldn’t be surprising to see slightly modified models making way for the Indian market.
RIL is expected to launch 4G LTE services later this year.
