Samsung just confirmed another Galaxy S4 variant – the Galaxy S4 Active. The rugged variant of Samsung’s flagship phone adheres to IP67 standard, which means the phone will work perfectly fine even if you submerge it under three feet deep of water for up to 30 minutes and is fully sealed (battery is removable though) to keep the dust out of the device.
On the hardware side, the Galaxy S4 Active swaps the Full HD Super AMOLED display on the Galaxy S4 with the 5-inch Full HD TFT LCD and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. The camera is 8 megapixel with LED flash and 2MP on the front and features Aqua Mode to shoot images and videos underwater. Rounding up the specs are LTE support, Wi-Fi, IrDA, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 16GB internal memory, microSD card slot and 2600mAh battery.
The phone will also features software enhancements like Smart Scroll and Smart Pause, S Translator, S Health, WatchON, Samsung Link, Samsung Hubs, Air View and Air Gesture.
The phone will be showcased at the Premiere event on June 20 and will be available for purchase this summer in US and Sweden followed by other regions in colour options of Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare. The phone is priced at 649 euros in Netherlands.
