In a bid to offer localisation for Samsung’s mid- and high-end devices, Samsung has added support for nine Indian languages for its Galaxy devices. The user interface and apps will be available in local languages like Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Gujarati and the first devices to take advantage of multilingual support are Galaxy Grand, Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Tab 3 series. This feature is available on these devices from today while other Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Star will get it in the coming days.
Samsung has also tied up with app makers and apps that will offer Indian language support will be available for download from the Samsung Apps store. While Facebook for Android, Facebook Messenger, Reverie PhoneBook Application, ChatON, Gmail, Newshunt support these languages, many other apps like Bharat Matrimony, Ganesh speak, India property, Times of India, BSE, Mydala etc. with vernacular language support will soon be released.
