At the Samsung Unpacked event today, Samsung announced the Galaxy S5. The phone is the same as we saw few hours back but we’ve got more details on the hardware, software and availability. The design is still plastic with a perforated pattern on the back cover but Samsung deems the “design with modern trends to appeal to a range of consumer tastes and interests.”
The Galaxy S5 has a tad larger 5.1-inch full HD display compared to the Galaxy S4 and is powered by a fast 2.5GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. The camera however, is one of the selling points. The Galaxy S5 boasts a 16MP camera with an autofocus speed of up to 0.3 secs. Videos also gain HDR and Selective Focus mode along with Virtual Tour Shot, Shot & More etc.
The Galaxy S5 adheres to the IP67 standard for dust and water resistance and even comes with a finger scanner, heart rate sensor and S Health 3.0.
Rounding up the feature set is Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, 16 or 32GB internal memory, microSD card slot up to 64GB, Kids Mode, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Download Booster, Private Mode, NFC, Infrared remote control and 2800mAh battery.
Samsung will release the Galaxy S5 in 150 countries on April 11.
