Samsung had promised to launch their reading-centric Galaxy Tab 4 Nook tablet in August and true to the word, the tablet has gone on sale on Barnes & Noble’s website and in more than 660 BN bookstores. The tablet is priced at $179 after $20 instant rebate but also bundles $200 worth of content from the Nook Store, including books, TV shows and magazines absolutely free (more below).
As far as tablet is concerned, it’s a 7-inch Wi-Fi tablet that has a 1280×800 resolution support, up to 10 hours of battery life, a microSD card slot, 8GB internal memory, GPS, 3 megapixel main camera and 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.
The tablet will also be pre-loaded with the Nook Store that will give consumers access to over 3 million book titles, comic books, Newsstand with many magazine selections, Nook Video and Apps.
The free content includes eBooks like Freakonomics, The Wanderer, and I Am Number Four, an episode each of three TV shows: HBO’s Veep, NBC Universal’s Hannibal, and BBC America’s Orphan Black, up to four 14-day free trial subscriptions from a selection of 12 popular magazines and also receive the previous 12 issues of each title at no cost. Users will also get a $5 Nook Store credit to make a purchase. Additionally, Barnes & Noble will also offer a Nook Book, video or an app free under its Free Fridays program.
