AMOLED displays are the future but with Samsung openly adopting the use of this superior technology over LCD gives this new tech more weightage. The Korean manufacturer has announced to actively use AMOLED displays in its forthcoming mobile phones.

AMOLED has many advantages over LCD. It is thin, consumes less power, has a faster response time, produces better color and contrast and can handle low temperatures effectively.

Samsung is so bullish on this that they reckon the market share of AMOLED phones will jump from the current 2.9 percent to 37.5 percent by 2015.

Woo Jong Lee, VP of Samsung Mobile Display claims that AMOLED touchscreens will be mass market before the end of 2009 and the high end notebook displays will also be based on AMOLED tech.
