Samsung has announced winners of its Application Store Developer Challenge 2009 that was initiated in October. Two Platinum award winners who walked away with US$100,000 each are South Korea-based HyongaSoft and Italy-based DDM Srl. for their apps – Ompass World Cities and Cinetrailer respectively.

The winners were selected on criteria ranging from creativity, user-friendliness, use of Samsung’s API and potential for profitability.

As for the apps, the Ompass World Cities is an augmented reality app that provides global cities’ location coordinates with the help of digital compass and Cinetrailer downloads regular updates related to movies and segregates according to What’s New, Now in Cinema, Home video etc.
