Samsung plans to sell 60m smartphones this year

Samsung’s JK Shin has confirmed big sales for its smartphones this year. According to Shin, Samsung is looking to sell at least 60m smartphone handsets this year. This is a big number when you consider that this estimation is three times then 2010 where Samsung broke the 20m smartphone barrier.

Last year was a meaningful one for Samsung’s smartphone business. By selling more than 20 million smartphones, we’ve successfully built a foundation on which to grow. And by selling 60 million smartphones this year, we will solidify our status as a top-tier industry player.

Samsung showed a decent number of Android smartphones at CES last week and is expected to show even more with dual-core processors at the MWC next month.
