Samsung develops full-color display using Quantum dots

Samsung has developed the next-generation full-color display using Quantum dots. Although a good three years away from commercialization, the new display is touted to be superior than LCDs and current breed of Samsung’s OLED displays.

As a proof of concept, Samsung created a 4-inch prototype on glass and flexible plastic. Displays using quantum-dots are said to produce brighter, pure colors while consuming very less power as compared to LCDs. Moreover, these are cheaper to produce and have longer life than OLEDs.
