Samsung to integrate cover glass with touch screen for a phone due next year

June 14, 2011 By kunal 2 Comments

According to an article on Korean site, ETNews Samsung is planning to launch a new smartphone in the first half of next year that will have a cover glass with an integrated touch screen. The G2 technology as it is called, will not use an Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) film that will help them to further shrink the thickness of the display panel and thus shaving off some millimeters from the phone. It is also reported to improve image quality.

To make this possible, Samsung’s Mobile division will invest 31 billion won in Samsung Fiber Optics, responsible for manufacturing.

Thanks, Jeonn!
