While Samsung has officially turned down the rumor to acquire HP’s PC business, a source close to CNET tells HP was the one who approached the Korean giant. HP approached Samsung, LG as well as a few others in 2010 before they announced to spin off the PC business.

According to the source, HP was looking for a buyer that had “broader interests than PCs” which would help to complement other divisions.
