Reuters: Sony to end S-LCD partnership with Samsung

December 26, 2011 By kunal Leave a Comment

S-LCD

Sony will end its 7-year partnership to manufacture LCD panels with Samsung, says Reuters. The report is pretty light on the details but Samsung has confirmed to make an announcement soon where Sony will sell back its stake to Samsung.

Sony and Samsung setup S-LCD as a 50:50 joint venture in 2004 to manufacture LCD panels but apparently the Japanese company can procure cheaper panels from Taiwanese manufacturers.
