Series 9

Samsung unwrapped the 2nd generation Series 9 notebook at CES last month and it has now been announced for Samsung’s home market. The new notebook targets the top-tier market with its combination of luxurious design and powerful hardware specs.

Samsung says the new generation notebook is a result of an investment of 33,000 hours in research and is carved out of a single aluminum shell, making it slimmer (12.9mm) and lighter than the original Series 9 notebook. The notebook is also sand-blasted to keep fingerprints at bay and keep the Mineral Ash Black color as good as new.

As for the specs, the notebook will come in two display options – 13.3-inch and 15-inch with processor options of Intel Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs. Additionally, it will have a Super Bright Plus HD display offering 400nits of brightness and 1600×900 resolution support, up to 8GB of RAM, SSD, Intel HD graphics, micro HDMI, USB 3.0 port etc.

Furthermore, Series 9 notebooks come with Samsung’s Fast boot technology that powers the laptop in just 9.8 seconds and wakes up in 1.4 seconds from standby and Battery Life Plus technology to ensure longevity of battery.

Samsung will sell the 13.3-inch Series 9 based on Core i7 for 2.93m won (US$2512) and will price the other SKUs later.

Check out some hands-on pictures of the notebook here.

pricey but the screen should be good. Should have started with the i5 for the home market to keep the prices down. They won’t be flying off shelves at >$2500 a pop
