Samsung Galaxy S2 to get ICS on March 10 (Update: Recalled)

March 9, 2012 By anish Leave a Comment

Samsung Galaxy S II ICS ROM

The wait is over, Samsung has announced the availability of the ICS update for Galaxy S2 on March 10. Some of the major improvements noted are:

– Face Unlock and Android Beam
– Mobile Network Data usage function is added
– Usability of multi-tasking and some applications is improved

However, because of ICS OS feature, Adobe Flash and Bluetooth 3.0 HS will not be supported in ICS OS (Bluetooth 3.0 is supported still).

To upgrade your Galaxy S2 to Android Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) thru KIES 2.0 or FOTA, you must upgrade KIES to the latest version. (KIES 1.5 does not support upgrading to ICS). As a word of caution, Samsung recomends to have at least 60MB free space if you are upgrading via KIES and 350MB if upgrading through FOTA.

Update: It seems the wait is not over. Samsung Electronics tweeted that once the upgrade schedule is concrete, it’ll confirm through its dedicated Twitter account. Lets hope that we see the release by this month.
